Military Pay Chart 2001

2001 US Military Basic Pay Charts

On October 30, 2000, President William J. Clinton signed Public Law 106-398, the Floyd D. Spence National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2001. Section 601 of the Act overrode 37 U.S.C. 1009(c). This allowed for Congress and the President to implement a rise in pay beyond the statutory 3.1 percent pay raise dictated by 37 U.S.C. 1009(c). On December 23, 2000, the President signed Executive Order 13182 implementing a basic pay raise of 3.7 percent for the uniformed members of the military, effective January 1, 2001.

Additionally, Section 602 of the NDAA mandated a further restructuring and normalization of basic pay that became effective on July 1, 2001, specifically for the military pay grades of E-5 through E-7.

The Navy active duty end-strength total, officer and enlisted, for Fiscal Year 2001 was 377,810.

The United States military pay scales below became effective on January 1 and July 1, 2001 and continued to be in effect until December 31, 2001. It is the basic pay amounts for the active components of the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard.

The pay amounts with the associated pay grades marked ** and shaded became effective July 1, 2001.

The pay rates are monthly, US dollar.

NOTE 1. The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy's basic pay is $4,893.60 regardless of cumulative years of service.

NOTE 2. The Chief of Naval Operations pay is $11,916.60, regardless of time in service; however, basic pay for O-7 through O-10 is limited by the Level III of the Executive Schedule (ES) to $11,141.70.

NOTE 3. O-6 and below is limited by level V of the ES at $9,800.10.
