  1. Jacob says:

I recently heard that the enlistment bonuses are, or will be cut, and even those of us who are currently in A school may not be getting ours upon completion. Can you shed some light on this so that it’s less hearsay and more factual?

    Thank you.

  2. NCCM (RET) says:

    Jacob,

If it is in your contract when you shipped and you remained eligible, then you get it. Put the rumor control button to the off position.

  3. Angel says:

Hi, I enlisted as a HS senior and the $3,000 highschool bonus is on my contract, when will i receive that? Do I need to remind the leaders at A school or will it automatically be paid to me?

  4. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Angel,

The EBHS is payable once you graduate boot-camp. If you don’t receive it within a month of graduation, I recommend you inform your leadership where you are stationed that something is amiss (whether that is A school or where ever)

  5. Steph says:

I was curious whether a STG-AEF rating would qualify for the $10,000 bonus.

  6. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Steph,

According to the latest Enlistment bonus message (July 2019), STG would not receive the bonus at this time.

  7. Ryan says:

My recruiter told me that, currently, when you sign your contract at MEPS you will then receive half of your bonus upfront and the rest will be paid on your anniversary date over the course of your contract. Is this true? Everything else I’ve been reading says you don’t get your bonus until after basic training or sometimes even after AIT. I’m looking at going into CTI and their ATI can last up to a year and a half.

  8. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Ryan,

Enlistment bonuses get paid after boot-camp or schools depending on the bonus. The Selective Reenlistment Bonus gets paid more as your recruiter described.

  9. Ryan says:

So this means my recruiter lied to me?
Also, how do I know which bonuses get paid when?

  10. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Ryan,

Being there is a bonus that pays out the way he said (SRB), I doubt he was lying. It is more likely there was a misunderstanding or he really isn’t aware of how EB is paid out and assumed it was paid out the same way SRB was.

Generally, the rating and program involved EBs get paid after school, and many of the others get paid after boot graduation. For CTI-ATF (EBSR), payment occurs following Language “A” school. Most others get paid after boot-camp graduation as long as you meet the minimum requirement for it; for example, EBSHP earned and payable upon graduation of RTC as long as you ship in the month indicated <-- that is the EB link most current (as of today). This article you are posting on is outdated. A new message could come out at anytime (there is no advanced notice given for SRB or EB messages).
