Military Pay Chart 1991

1991 US Military Basic Pay Charts

On November 5, 1990, President George H. W. Bush signed Public Law 101-510, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1991, which "[waived] the automatic adjustment in military pay consistent with the FY-1991 adjustment in the General Schedule of the Government, providing instead a 4.1% increase in the rates of basic pay, basic allowance for quarters, and basic allowance for subsistence."

Also, as a result of the Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991, active duty Enlisted members, Warrant Officers and Limited Duty Officers (not to include the Coast Guard or any Reserve component) would have an amount deducted from their monthly pay and deposited into the Armed Forces Retirement Home Trust Fund per section 1007(i) of title 37.

The Navy active duty end-strength total, officer and enlisted, for 1991 was 570,262.

The United States military pay scales became effective on January 1, 1991 and continued to be in effect until December 31, 1991. It is the basic pay amounts for the active components of the Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force, Coast Guard.

The pay rates are monthly, US dollar.

NOTE 1. The Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy's basic pay is $3537.90 regardless of cumulative years of service.

NOTE 2. The Chief of Naval Operations pay remains $9,363.30, regardless of time in service, but basic pay is limited by the Level V of the Executive Schedule to $8441.70.
