Effective, September 24, 2020, the following enlistment bonus (EB) opportunities have been continued, adjusted, or eliminated by the Commander, Navy Recruiting Command.

The Enlistment Bonus for Shipping (EBSHP) continues with the current payout of $4,000 for all ratings that ship before Sep 30, 2020. Eligibility for EBSHP only exists while the Future Sailor is in DEP.

The Enlistment Bonus for College Credit (EBCC) is no longer authorized. Current future sailors in DEP that do not change their program, rate, or ship date will maintain eligibility on their contracts.

The Enlistment Bonus for Physical Screening Test (EBPST) continues, but Physical Fitness Assessment (EBPFA) is no longer authorized except for Future Sailors who already have it in their contract.

The Enlistment Bonus for Source Ratings (EBSR) has added a couple of additional eligible ratings. Additionally, many of the Warrior Challenge rating bonus amounts have decreased.

The Enlistment Bonus for High School has been updated for the Class of 2021.

Multiple enlistment bonuses can be earned simultaneously, however, the maximum combined enlistment bonus, capped by law, is $40,000.

The Navy Student Loan Repayment Program has seen a significant increase in eligible ratings and programs. Prior to this update, only the Musician rating was authorized; now, there are 21 new programs and ratings that can receive up to $65,000 in loan repayment monies. See your local recruiter for program requirements.

For those whose shipping date may have been affected by COVID 19, please read the message at the end of the this article.

Prior Service members, either Navy or Other Services, re-enlisting onto active duty are eligible for bonuses. They must enter active duty in pay grade E-4 or below, meet specific bonus eligibility and did not receive a bonus in their first enlistment. They must sign a Prior Service Enlistment Guarantees Annex. Prior Service members access directly onto active duty and report directly to Great Lakes for processing. FSC Great Lakes Officer Processing Division will process any bonuses they have in their contract.

All Sailors with LRP in their contract, regardless of DEP date or ADSD, are eligible. The Sailor must access to Active Component and have LRP listed as a guarantee in their current Annex to DD Form 4 (Enlistment Guarantee/NAVCRUIT 1133/52) in order to maintain eligibility. For post-accession inquiries, the LRP Manager is responsible for determining LRP eligibility.

For LRP members to be eligible for 100 percent of the Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit, a minimum of six years active service must be completed either through extension or reenlistment if your initial contract is not already a six year program. Any service less than six years will reduce the percentage of GI Bill benefit earned.

  1. Anthony says:

I was just hoping to get some clarification on the LRP. The Ship Month column in the chart, is that Oct 2020 – Sept 2021? And Where did that information come from? I’ve heard conflicting information about whether it’s currently being offered, so I wanted to make sure. Thanks!

  2. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Anthony,

The information was announced in an administrative message released by CNRC. The LRP information in my article is effective September 24, 2020 for anyone who meets the requirements for LRP and ships to RTC in one of the listed ratings. The shipping month is essentially from the effective date of the message until a new message is released that changes it (if LRP is in your contract before a new msg changes anything, then you would still get LRP). If you are getting conflicting information regarding LRP from a Navy recruiter, then tell him or her to call their supervisor to get a copy of the latest EB/LRP message.

  3. Anthony says:

    Ok great, thank you!

  4. Jordan says:

I was told that I could give my college transcript to MEPS once I graduate to receive the bonus. It was not, however, in my initial contract. Have I now missed out on that bonus? I am currently in DEP and plan to ship in January.

  5. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Jordan,

As long as you entered DEP prior to SEP 25th, and you have NOT and will NOT change your contract after that date, then your transcripts can still be added.

  6. DIdi says:

I enteered DEP in June and will be shipping out in November. Does it mean that Future Sailors shipping out in November do not get any EBSHIP BONUS just like their fellow recruits who had earlier ship out dates. Asking because recruits shipping out in October get $4000 Bonus.

  7. Nick says:

I noticed that Nuke is not listed on the LRP, is the program unavailable to those looking to enlist as a nuke?

  8. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Nick,

Correct, the Nuke program is not currently authorized LRP; the reason: high enlistment and reenlistment bonuses and excellent opportunities after service.

  9. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Didi,

The only person that would be able to ship after Sep 30th with EBSHP are those who had it already in their contract to ship in FY-20, but had to be rolled out to FY-21 (Oct 20 thru SEP 21)for the convenience of the Navy.

  10. Darryl says:

Do I receive bachelor degree bonus if I enlisted this month?

  11. NCCM(Ret) says:

    Darryl,

The enlistment bonus for college credit is not currently authorized.
