Sailor – Soldier – Marine – Airman
July 12th, 2008
May 19, 1994, the Secretary of the Navy, John H. Dalton, decreed the word Sailor when used in Naval correspondence and referring to Sailors of the U.S. Navy – Sailor will be capitalized. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, in October 2003 and Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. John Jumper, in May 2004 decreed the same for the words Soldier and Airman respectively. Marine (when referring to a person in the Marine Corps) is a proper noun and will always be capitalized.
Sailor, Soldier, and Airman are also considered proper nouns in this blog (I hope in your blog too). I think when you are referring to them in any article, blog, correspondence, print, or print media those words should be capitalized – if you’re afraid some English teacher may come and swat your knuckles, or you’re concerned the grammar police may attempt to arrest you, tell them these words are proper “respect” nouns and they need to follow the lead of the respective military service heads and update their grammar manuals. Tagged!
June 16th, 2008
I have been tagged – yes, just like the school yard game – by the Armchair Admiral himself. So now that I’m “It” I shall meet my obligations and reach out and tag others. I’m not a very fast runner so I might have to sneak up on ya
Here are the rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.
4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
5. Present an image of martial discord from whatever period or situation you’d like.

June 12th, 2008
Plurk.com is an innovative social site that incorporates a time line view of your friend interactions. It is Twitter on steriods!
Having only been a member of Plurk for no more than 30 minutes I am not yet wise in all the ways of Plurkdom. There are a few Plurkatudes which may be beneficial to know before entering Plurkville.
Plurk (noun) – “All things known and to be discovered”
Plurk (verb) – “Share”
Plurkville – “Plurk.com”
Plurker – “A citizen of Plurkville”
Plurkylmpian – “Plurker of the highest caliber”
Plurkilicious – “That’s Outstanding!”

Hopefully you don’t find this post Plurkumptuous but even being a member for only 30 minutes I feel like a citizen. Have any other Plurkatudes you’d like to add? Come and join me in Plurkville! (Read the rest of the story…)

Best Pork Chops Ever
June 3rd, 2008
A little break from the norm – come to think of it I really don’t follow a “norm”, I post what the heck I feel like. I guess today is no different.
When Bonnie and I had our house built one of the “must haves” was a gas stove. I enjoy cooking. We spent the extra cash and had the builders run the extra gas line and had a great time picking out a super-duper gas range/oven.
The pork chop recipe I am going to post about isn’t difficult, it doesn’t require a gas range and your cooking skill can be nil. It has to be the easiest and most flavorful method to cook a pork chop there ever was. Never again will you have to suffer though a dry tasteless piece of pig! (Read the rest of the story…)

Inglis Florida
May 23rd, 2008
Our adventure continues! Camping on 2 1/2 private acres on the Withlacoochee River in Inglis, Florida. Inglis is the town that has been in the spotlight when Elvis made “Follow that Dream” here. Also made national news a few years ago because the Mayor put forth a proclamation to ban the devil. I must say the proclamation must have been a success because this place is truly heaven on earth. Here is a couple of pictures to set the mood

To the Death Book Preview
May 13th, 2008
I have been contacted by Vanguard Publishing and given the opportunity to offer my readers a chance at getting a “first look” at the eagerly awaited “To the Death” by Patrick Robinson who has also written the bestsellers “Lone Survivor”, “Nimitz Class”, and “Hunter Killer”. Many of his books contain his most famous protagonist, Admiral Arnold Morgan. To the Death is reported to be the Admiral’s final novel.
I for one am not going to try and review this book, To the Death because I have yet to read it in it’s entirety. I will say that the first 122 pages I have read, and made available to you as well, are amazing! His adventures are exciting and believable and keep an eye out for a couple of Navy Chiefs in the book like Chief Mark Coulson and Chief Skip Gowans – as in real life the Chiefs make a difference! OK, that did it, I’m ready to come out of retirement!
As I mentioned, (Read the rest of the story…)

Cajun Muddus Buggus Boilous
May 4th, 2008
The one thing every fine capitalist should not be without is an accountant who also is an expert at giving financial/investment advice. When selecting your accountant you want to ensure his/her references check out, you want to make sure their credentials and certifications are in order and most importantly you want to ensure they know how to throw a humdinger of a party!
On May 3rd our Enrolled Agent and friend, Wes Parker and Peggy Killet, hosted the 5th Annual Rajun Cajun Crawfish Boil. BTW, for those who don’t know, a crawfish is basically a Maine lobster that got caught in the “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” laser beam and lives in fresh water. The scientific term for you science buffs is, “Muddus Buggus”.
To prepare the feast you bring a large pot of water to boil, add some Cajun seasonings, sausage, (Read the rest of the story…)

Visit the Memphis Zoo
November 29th, 2007
My wife and I spent a couple of hours this afternoon getting some good exercise walking around the Memphis Zoo. We became members of the zoo a couple of years ago and visit as often as we can.
Here are a few pictures I took with my Vivitar ViviCam5385 Digital Camera. Not bad for a 5.0 megapixel on a chilly day. (Read the rest of the story…)
