Disney Security

Disney Security

Security at Disney is something they take very seriously. Thousands of people enter the various parks every day. The worlds climate for hate dictates that every one must remain vigilant. Some security measures I have noticed, which hadn’t existed prior to 9/11, are things like increased video surveillance and coded tickets which are matched with your finger print each time you enter.

One other inclusion into Disney’s security is the bag check once reserved for airports and federal buildings. Disney does have a better process – they have two lines, one for people with bags and one for the stream-lined traveler who is packed lite. (Read the rest of the story…)

Disney Bidet

May 26th, 2008

Made it to Disney World! We start our 8 day stint at one of the number one vacation spots known to man. To get ready for this trip we upgraded our camping equipment by taking advantage of a sale at Bass Pro Shop – we got a 10′x10′ Coleman tent for just 89 bucks. Much better than my other tent – I can stand up in this one.

This is the first time we have ever stayed at Disney’s campground, Fort Wilderness. So far we are very impressed. Our campsite is on a small creek that winds through the campground. Tame wildlife wonders through occasionally like rabbits, ducks and even saw a (Read the rest of the story…)

Time to Get Serious

April 18th, 2008

We have lived in our house for five years now! This may not seem like a long time to most people but for me it is an eternity. Lets see, since birth, I’ve lived in Rochester, NY – Azuza, CA – Tulsa, OK – Lincoln, NE – Lake Wales, FL – Crystal River, FL – Orlando, FL – Great Lakes, IL – Vallejo, CA – Mayport, FL – Philadelphia, PA – Camden, NJ – Oaklyn, NJ – Latina, Italy – Keflavik, Iceland – Panama City Beach, FL – Jackson, MS – Warner Robins, GA – Albuquerque, NM – Chandler, AZ – Stow, MA – Maynard, MA – Dublin, CA – Bartlett, TN. Twenty four locations and in some of the towns actually moved households – anyway, lived in a ton of places in my 45 years on the planet.
One thing I am experiencing now that I did not experience in ANY of those other locations was (Read the rest of the story…)

April Fools Wish List

April 2nd, 2008

Five things I wish I’d have heard today and explained away as April Fool’s jokes;

1. Global warming (it’s just Mother Nature having her cycle).

2. The Mayor of Memphis’ extortion/resignation letter. – The school board should hire him as he wants and then fire him a week later so we can all be done with him!

On the television there is a commercial running which has people saying they do business in a number of different cities and their cell phones need to make sure they have good connection. Don’t know who the company is, don’t really care – I just want to play too! (Read the rest of the story…)

Bloggin a thousand years ago

October 24th, 2007

Doing a Google blog search I looked up some headlines bloggers used when writing about events of their day. I admit the search took a lot of time due to the fact most of the older blogs were written in stone or carved into a piece of wood. Here is some of the blog headlines I found insightful and entertaining; (Read the rest of the story…)

One with the Earth

August 16th, 2007

A few years ago I had the privilege of being the Chief Recruiter of Navy Recruiting District Phoenix. One of the many great things about the NRD is that within its territory was the Navajo Nation.

Navy Recruiting Station Flagstaff was one of the NRS’ that covered the Navajo Nation, we would make every attempt to place Sailors who were Navajo in Flagstaff. We were lucky enough to have two Navajos stationed there during my tour.

Before most Navajo would commit to joining the Navy they would complete a “Ceremony”. I am not the expert I should be on the process but from what I remember the Ceremony could be as long as 3 days encompassing rituals, meditation and spiritual healing – it is a very religious event.
