Seabee Divers????? no SRB??? They are the only unit that does precision demolition for construction purposes. Also accru more dive time per person in command than any other diving command in the navy. Just curious how they got passed up in this

New Navy,

As I said, it is all cyclical. The current economic situation is temporary. Whatever affects the economic downturn has on sailors (SRB, advancement, pay raises, etc) is also temporary. Your concern about the sailor who wanted to make a career out of the Navy but is now seeing tighter advancement because of people staying in has happened many times in the past and in a relatively short time frame it has adjusted back to normal. Nothing stays the same for very long.

Large bill,
Look so now sailor who should get out or where at their eaos are now staying in I am in the millitary and I know not everybody shoul be lifers or do more than one enlistment. But those are the sailors scared to jump out cause of being scarred of the civilian life that they will soon have to live. So what about the real lifer who from day one wanted to retire navy who now loses there srb and can't make rate cause that sailor that was supposed to get is now staying and just playing the waiting game and looking for the right time to jump out and not doing any thing while their in. The navy is on a down whirl spiral and if we don't clean house its not looking to good.

New Navy,

Hate to inform you, but you don't know what you're talking about. This is (and always has been) cyclical. When the employment situation in the civilian world is in a down cycle then the military's sense of security is enticing (especially for those with family obligations). When our pay is good and SRB's are high people tend to stay in at greater numbers. Too many stay in and SRB's are not needed as much to optimally man the fleet. I did 25 years and never saw a penny of SRB because my rating was always adequately manned. When the civilian economy turns around then sailors approaching the end of an enlistment see opportunities and a greater percentage get out creating a need for bonuses to retain enough sailors.

ET3(SS),

Depending on your situation, you may want to just extend your enlistment and see if SRB is restored for your rating next update.

This is an example of how the navy is tryna get rid of people. They promote the motto of accelerate your which mean use the navy as a steping stone to get out and do better things and uae your G.I bill. But to many sailors have become scared of the civilian life and use the navy as a crutch. No more srb's and rates are getting locked up which means no promotion. So they giving people all the hint to get out so all the dead wait holding the navy down get out and open thing up for sailor who should be in

I saw it coming, and I am up for re-enlistment in October. It kinda hurts seeing as I came in as a Yeoman for nothing, and I just crossed rates with a SRB that was at 60,000 a couple months ago, and now is 0.
