Continued Commitment to Excellence

Updating, Changing and Adding

August 17th, 2008

I think I have now settled on the new color scheme for my web site. The gray background to the featured section of the page seemed the only color to use being this is a mostly Navy recruiting centric site - even the pay charts are easier to read, heck stats are showing people are spending a little more time looking at the pages and exploring even deeper into the web site.

I have had a number of people linking to pages on the site which is always good and I feel I should help out a bit by providing the code to make it easier;

For an example I’ll use the 2009 military pay chart (it is proposed numbers now but that is the page which will be updated to whatever numbers ultimately get approved);
For html(web pages and blogs) -

<a href=”http://www.navycs.com/09militarypaychart.html”>2009 Military Pay Chart</a>

For Forums(BBC code) -

2009 Military Pay Chart

To the enlisted, officer pay charts;
For BBC code -

2009 Enlisted Pay

2009 Officer Pay

I have also added a few links to my blog roll to some sites I really enjoy reading and hope you find them just as entertaining and informative;

Women in the Military - GI Kate doesn’t attempt to spare anyones feelings, she tells it exactly how she sees it. Most importantly she is producing a documentary about females in the armed forces - I look forward to the final product!

Navy Tim - A newly selected Chief Petty Officer who is currently undergoing the final journey of becoming CPO - he has already made excuses on his blog why he can not post more… FIGURES!

Armchair Admiral - If you want to feel smarter than you did when you woke up, read this blog. This Navy blog has caused my neurons to fire so rapidly I think it is responsible for killing more of my brain cells than beer.

CDR Salamander - Naval Officer who stands on principle and will provide a realistic prospective that will really make you think. Another one who calls it like he sees it, a great daily read.

Navy Gal - A Navy Reservist who has been called up. Her blog gives you some good prospective as you follow her through the physical and emotional trials of service in Iraq.

Navy Japan - FEWL says he is just another Navy guy living in Japan but this first tour Sailor speaks his mind and for my Navy recruiting centric blog there really is no better prospective to gain some knowledge from. Not only that, my son Kevin is on the GW headed that direction very soon.

Neptunus Lex - This blog is written by a recently retired Navy Captain who was a TOPGUN instructor and commanded a FA-18 squadron. His leadership experience alone makes this blog another “must read”.

Molten Eagle - Can’t leave out the submarine force. This blogger has his fingers firmly on the pulse of the silent service.

Pacific Fleet CMC - FLTCM (SW/AW) Tom Howard the Pacific Fleet Master Chief has entered cyberspace.

Chud Busters - LT Nixon weeds out those in cyberspace and real life who wish they could and often try to make life more difficult for our troops. This is a fun web site to read, spot a CHUD? Send it to LT Nixon!

In the future Navy CyberSpace will be adding more information which will include stuff from our allies. Already added pay charts from the UK and other countries will follow. I scour instructions, publications and daily news and congressional updates to ensure the information is correct and timely. I have been privileged to have served over a half million unique visitors over the last year. My goal is to ensure each person’s experience on this site meets or even exceeds their expectations. If there are areas not yet covered in this site you would like to see added always feel free to post it here or use my contact email to let me know.

Thank you!
