Free College for UK Armed Forces Vets

British GI-Bill

July 13th, 2008

Good news for our friends in the UK as some members of the military will get a much needed benefit. This has been a long time coming, Bravo!

Military to study at university for free
By Lewis Carter
Military servicemen and women are to be given the opportunity to study for a university degree free of charge.
Members of the Armed Forces who leave after six years of service will be able to gain new qualifications – which can cost civilians up to £9,000 in fees – under the new scheme.

The plans are the latest concession by ministers accused by senior Army officials and opposition politicians of neglecting the Armed Forces.

Other recent Government pledges have included plans to improve medical treatment for injured soldiers, provide better living accommodation and to establish a national Armed Forces Day…

Now if they can just get the pay to competitive levels.
