There is a huge difference in the joining process. From my recent experience the "active" duty recruiters do not know how to process prior military members into the Navy Reserve. I started the process in late June and as of today my Recruiter hasn't gotten very far and I am still not in the Reserves. Take it from someone trying to join the Reserve using an “active” duty recruiter, the process does not work. There is a huge difference in the joining process.
