SI Speechless
November 11th, 2007
For the last 44 years the Notre Dame football program has enjoyed win after win over the Naval Academy. The table turned last Saturday when the Midshipmen upset the Fighting Irish in overtime. That in itself is a story worth more than oh by the way “Three and Out” 37 word mention on page 78 of the November 12, 2007 issue of Sports Illustrated.
What about a story about how big this win really is.
- We are at war – Advantage Notre Dame.
- Naval Academy maintains height and weight standards – Advantage Notre Dame.
- Leadership, accountability and heart – Advantage Navy.
There was some real tear jerking moments and Pulitzer Prize stuff hanging out there, SI – you missed it.
In my mind this blunder over-shadows (slightly) the fact that your almost weekly holier than thou bashing of Barry Bonds for allegedly “cheating” to gain advantage only seemed to subside when it was found out that the Patriots were actually “cheating” to gain an advantage. Ah, maybe you are writing about how those involved in the Patriots organization should be banned from the Hall of Fame and have those Super Bowl titles stripped. I should be looking for it in a couple of more issues – on the publication date of that issue then all will be right in the sporting world… I know, fat chance.
