2008 Military Pay Update

Should have gotten around to posting this a few days ago, sorry for the delay! On September, 11th of all days the Senate Defense Appropriations Subcommittee approved a spending bill of $459.6 billion for fiscal 2008. The bill included a number of reduced amounts proposed by the President for certain weapons programs but did increase the amount proposed for health care and a needed increase for military hospitals – overall a potential plus for military health care benefits.
The bill also pushes the House recommended 2008 military pay raise of 3.5%. The bill still must be approved by the full Senate and ultimately signed by the President. It does appear once again the budget will not be signed before October 1st making it necessary for a “stop gap” spending bill to be approved – what a way to run a railroad…
